Just coz I thought people might be curious:
Here's the timelines for Scoots's body and face, as well as the various animated symbols that comprise her.
I haven't included "library" symbols (like the mouth symbol that just paces through the visimes, or the various eyelashes), nor the symbols that don't change (like the static version of the tail, or her ears).

It's not tweening, it's not frame-by-frame, it's tweening tweaked to the point that it's almost frame-by-frame. While that looks like a LOT of keyframes, there's a lot of copypasta that went into it (Scoots was repetitive), as well as the fact that each column of keys is a single pose- I'd go through, select the entire column and key it, then pose everything. Also, there are tweens indicated even where things are not moving, because I built a lot of this animation after adding tweens to the basic key poses- and there was no need to pull tweens out just to make the timeline look prettier. :) So it actually looks a bit more complicated than it is.

Anyways, happy studying!

Tutorials are nice, but sometimes it's better to get an idea of how a finished project should look. This was great (but I can't focus on studying the keyframes because of the adorableness. :iconfluttershycuteplz:)

No I'm using the English version of the song. The original song is German tho- titled "Piep Piep" instead of Beep Beep - you can find it on Youtube.

I dunno. I don't really feel like I have anything to contribute, since my animation methods are cobbled together from existing tutorials and such.

Actually, this is probably the closest thing to a tutorial for this, though it doesn't cover how the animation can be layered together like it is in Flash: [link] :D

You mean how I made this? It's all fake. I made a fake version of Flash's playhead, and it's scrolling over pieced-together screenshots of the timelines from the actual objects. :D

My brains automatically continues the lines for Sweetie Belle and Applebloom.

"I love you so, but I don't know how to let you know~"
"Got a tummy full of butterflies, when I looked into your eyes~"

This is really neat that you posted this! I never would have thought to do that with elements of one of my Flash animations. This looks like it took a lot of work to put together. :worship: It's very well animated!

Yeah, the timelines in this version are actually pieced together screenshots, with a manually-animated playhead on it.

Oh, okay! I was wondering how you did the timelines and playheads. I figured you knew some advanced way to export that directly from Flash. Piecing together screenshots and animating the playhead is brilliant. =)

You do this completely differently from me (I think, reading the description makes me unsure). All of the animation happens inside the symbols for me, especially with repetitive motions, so my timeline would just be a stack of long gray bars if you opened the whole character symbol.

Well, the parent timeline, which you don't see here, looks exactly like that - a stack of long gray bars, one for Scootaloo, one for Sweetie Belle, one for the part of Sweetie Belle that appears above Apple Bloom in the stacking order, one for Apple Bloom, one for the background. I think the scooter is in the same layer as Scootaloo.

That's all a matter of clarity of course, though, as since they don't have any keyframes on that timeline, they could conceivably all be in the same layer. Having them split out makes it easier to get to the layer/symbol I want to work with, since I can lock or hide other layers, of course.

Wow, this is cool. With only a very limited flash experience, this is a lot to look at, but I love seeing how things were made so this is really interesting. It's like we are seeing the building blocks of cuteness :D.

Things you can spot:
Scoots' tail is doing the wag, but it falls out of sync on its own, the animation on the body resets it to the beat every beat.

The animation on the body is actually only two poses, repeated down the timeline, and adjusted to stay in sync. The nodding on the head at the end is similarly copypasta'd.

There are two copies of Scoots's right ear and eye- the second is making the eye overlap the ear only within the ear- and that's how the "circular stacking" is accomplished between her ear, eye, and hair.

It's a lot more obvious in this view that Scoots's tail is a single shape being rotated, flipped, and skewed.

I had to stretch her head down (so basically her jaw) to keep her mouth from running off her face in a few places- you an see those plain keyframes on the head_base layer.

Some of those I actually spotted on my own :). One that took me a bit to understand was the bit regarding the right ear and eye... although the majority of the confusion came from me focusing on her left eye/ear by mistake. HER right is on the left *smacks head* duh. I just kept looking at it and was wondering what you meant by circular stacking, but now I see it (once I looked at the right side :D).

Yep, her right is on the left side of the picture. And her left side doesn't have the circular stacking. It was definitely a facehoof moment when I figured out that I had made that mistake. :D
